Diet and Weight Loss
When your trying to loose weight, its helpful to evaluate what you eat and Track calories. “Calories in: Calories out… it’s just math” many people say. Some dogs, like Huskies, have the ability to eat when they are hungry and stop when they are full. They do not put on weight. Humans have the capacity to do the same until we age. As young adults we tend to lose our ability to eat just when needed.
Making an effort to eat slowly can help with retaining internal cues. Since it takes about 20 minutes for our Bodie to register that we are full - meals should be slow. This will lead to a better chance that a smaller portion will make you feel full.
Taking breaks when eating with sips of water between bites has been shown to decrease caloric intake. The addition of a salad decreases caloric intake at a meal. Planning to leave part of your plate uneaten for a normal portion is a sustainable method of decreasing caloric intake.
Whatever strategy you employ. Please recall that if it is not sustainable - you will not sustain it. Like with fitness - the journey to weight loss is made of many small imperceivable but incremental steps. You have to be persistent and deliberate - but expect only a small change each day.
Aiming to decrease intake slightly is a superior strategy (in our opinion) to low carb - high protein diets.
